The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Orissa Legislature on 10th December, 1966 to fulfill long cherished dream of the people of Western Orissa for the establishment of a University. The University started functioning from 1st January, 1967 with Prof.Parsuram Mishra as the first Vice-Chancellor. The University was inaugurated on 4th January, 1967 by Hon’ble Chancellor A.N.Khosla. The University started functioning in 1967 in a rented private building at Dhanupali, Sambalpur and in the Government building at Ainthapali, Sambalpur from 1968 - 72. In the year 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla.

The University at Jyoti Vihar provides Post-Graduate education in Twenty-seven subjects through Twenty Post-Graduate Departments. The University Post-Graduate Departments offer one-year study Programme for M.Phil Degree, two years study programme for the Degrees of M.A. / M.Sc. / LL.M. / Business Administration / M.Lib & Inf.Science, One-Year P.G. Diploma Course in Computer Science & Application and Diploma Course in Sambalpuri Studies and Three-Year course in M.C.A. and Executive M.B.A.

The P.G.Departments of Chemistry, Life Sciences, History, Economics, Library & Information Sciences and Mathematics have been conferred Autonomous Status by the University. They adopt Semester system based on continuous evaluation. They adopt their own courses of studies. In the year 2000 the Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education has launched BCA, PGDCA and PGDIT courses. In the year 2003 the Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education has started floating MCA (Direct and Lateral), DCA Course and In the year 2006 the D.D.C.E. has started floating MBA (Off Campus) full-time courses.

Sambalpur University Exam Admit Card / Hall Ticket Download

The Students going to appear for the Sambalpur University examination can get the admit card/Hall Ticket. The authorities are planning to release the admit card on the official website. The contenders can get the admit card from the official website by giving the details like application number and date of birth. Instructions for Downloading the  Hall Ticket 2019:

• In order to download the Hall Ticket, the Students shall have to log on to the official website of Sambalpur University.
• Here the Students will have to check the Examination Result /Scheme section.
• Once the above mentioned section has been opened, the Students will get the link for downloading the Hall Ticket.
• After clicking on the above mentioned link, the Students will have to enter their Name, Father’s Name and Program name and then click on submit.
• After submitting, the Students will be able to download the Hall Ticket.

Sambalpur University Admission 2019

Sambalpur University Admission to all the courses except for B.Tech. are through the Entrance Test followed by Viva-Voce rounds. For admission to B.Tech, the university considers JEE / OJEE scores. Sambalpur University offers M.A., M.Sc., MPA, M.A./M.Sc., M.L.I.Sc., L.L.M. and Diploma courses at the PG level. All the Postgraduate level courses are for a duration of two years, except for PG DIploma, which is for a duration of one year.

The M.A. course is offered with seven different specialization subjects, the M.Sc. course is offered with five different specialization subjects and the M.A./M.Sc course is offered with four different specialization subjects.

Selection for admission into different Courses shall be done through Written Entrance Test (with coding and decoding system), Career Mark and Viva-Voce, weight to which should be given as follows:

• Written Entrance Test - 60%
• Career Marks - 30%
• Viva-Voce - 10%

For admission to Master’s in Performing Arts (MPA), weights shall be given as follows:

• Written Entrance Test - 30%
• Career Marks 30%
• Performance and Viva-Voce 30%
• Experience in Performing Arts 10%
